What does NEBA do?
NEBA is dedicated solely to successfully helping its members grow their credit card, debit card, and merchant acquiring programs. Chartered in 1969, NEBA has been bringing affordable, flexible and customizable bankcard services to banks for over 40 years. As an association of bankers, NEBA is able to offer these services at reduced costs based on aggregated transaction volumes. Member banks also benefit from NEBA’s years of industry experience and expertise. NEBA partners with member banks to continuously improve their product portfolio and profitability.

Does NEBA work only with banks in New England?
While our roots and corporate offices are in New England, our members are based throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, Bermuda, Barbados and the Cayman Islands.

Why should my bank become an issuing bank?
Most bankers looking into becoming issuers want to gain more control over their credit card program. The biggest obstacle then becomes having the appropriate internal staff and process to manage the program. As an issuing bank with NEBA you get both. My current credit card vendor is unresponsive; I feel our program is too small for their attention. What level of support can I expect from NEBA?
NEBA prides itself on not only resolution of processing problems which arise, but more importantly, we assign an account manager to understand your business strategies and help you develop and implement tactics, products and services to achieve your goals.

We have a small community bank. How can our credit card program compete with regional and national credit card programs?
It is a misconception that small community banks cannot offer a competitive card program. NEBA’s processing and operation costs keep your expenses competitive and our product set and technology solutions allow you to provide virtually the same products as larger issuers.

We don’t offer credit cards. How can I make credit cards a profitable part of our portfolio?
Credit cards are generally the most profitable product a bank can offer; NEBA can show you how to design your program and pricing to achieve above average ROA’s.
