What does NEBA do?
NEBA is dedicated solely to successfully helping its members grow their credit, debit and merchant programs. Chartered in 1969, NEBA has been bringing affordable, flexible and customizable bankcard services to banks for 40 years. As an association of bankers, NEBA is able to offer these services at reduced costs based on aggregated transaction volumes. Member banks also benefit from NEBA’s years of industry experience and expertise. NEBA partners with member banks to continuously improve their product portfolio and profitability.

Does NEBA work only with banks in New England?
While our roots and corporate offices are in New England, our members are based throughout the United States, the District of Columbia, Bermuda, Barbados and the Cayman Islands.

Does NEBA provide debit and/or ATM driving?
Partnering with NEBA makes your ATM processing and driving easy. NEBA supports multiple transactions, including withdrawals, deposits, transfers, balance inquiries, statements, payments, PIN changes, and alternate media (stamps, phone cards, gift certificates and coupons); personalized transactions with customer preferences; customized text and graphics solutions remotely; and ATM monitoring.

What advantages does NEBA provide over going directly to a processor?
NEBA offers its members service excellence, feature-rich processing systems at group discounts, a growth-based incentive pricing structure, and a true partnership approach vs. client-vendor relationship. Credit

Why should my bank become an issuing bank?
Most bankers looking into becoming issuers want to gain more control over their credit card program. The biggest obstacle then becomes having the appropriate internal staff and process to manage the program. As an issuing bank with NEBA you get both. My current credit card vendor is unresponsive; I feel our program is too small for their attention. What level of support can I expect from NEBA?

We have a small community bank. How can our credit card program compete with regional and national credit card programs?
It is a misconception that small community banks cannot offer a competitive card program. NEBA’s processing and operation costs keep your expenses competitive and our product set and technology solutions allow you to provide virtually the same products as larger issuers.

We don’t offer credit cards. How can I make credit cards a profitable part of our portfolio?

Merchant

Our bank has a small merchant program. Will NEBA work with a member as small as us?
Whether you have just a few merchants or thousands, NEBA is not a one size fits all organization. We tailor our services to support all of our members` needs. With 40 years of expertise in the bankcard industry, we can customize a program to meet your challenges no matter how big or small.

What level of support does NEBA provide to a merchant acquirer?
NEBA provides account management services that will help identify your objectives and design a program that is right for you. You’ll have access to the most premier processing systems available, including training and education. Through NEBA’s partner, Primax, members receive all the operational support they need with 24/7/365 support, terminal deployment and training, and equipment purchase and maintenance programs.

How can I improve the profitability of our Merchant Card program?
NEBA can help you review your revenue options and pricing methodologies, and provides competitive pricing for processing and operations services; we can help develop pro formas and P&L statements to measure and manage your profitability.

We need a merchant program for our business customers, but don’t know how to get started?
